Water related activities are a booming business which attract thousands of people every year. Many companies are large vessels that can hold a huge number of people but I tend to avoid this as I personally find the experience isn't as enjoyable and it's too overcrowded. I'm more than happy to pay the extra cost towards a company that offers small group tours and mum and I were so happy that we booked through Coral Cats! We got to experience a beautiful sunny day lounging on bean bags above the deck and not stuck inside a vessel looking through smudgy windows.

Our transport picked us up from our accomodation at DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Fiji and 20 minutes later dropped us off at Port Denarau, where the marine port is and where everyone goes to board their marine activities. We checked in at the Coral Cats booth and waited for a guide to gather us all together. When we boarded the Coral Cats sailing catamaran we were greeted by the warm, friendly smiles of the guides who are so down to earth and all round great guys, then we headed out about an hour to the nearest reef where we stopped off to do some snorkelling!

I LOVE LIFE UNDER THE WATER! WHEREVER I GO I AM ALWAYS SURE TO SEE IF THEY HAVE SOME SORT OF SNORKELLING ACTIVITY ON OFFER.

The coral and fish there are so beautiful and healthy and with the guides bringing bread along, you get to experience a really close encounter with the fish. The water temperature was really comfortable however, it was quite windy the day we went so conditions made the water choppy, which for those who get sea sickness, I highly recommend taking medication beforehand, especially as this was an all day trip, one poor woman was throwing her guts up for a good while.

After our snorkel we stopped off on an island called Malolo where we enjoyed a delicious BBQ lunch with a variety of cold salads and fruit. We were also able to purchase drinks at the bar and just relax and take in the scenery. They also had a yacht race on too, so there were quite a few people on the edge of the water cheering them on.

After about 2 hours on Malolo, we boarded the boat again and went of to another reef for a second snorkel, by now the wind had picked up a bit and although the surface of the water was choppy, below was still very calm and the clarity was great!

After our second snorkel we made our way back to Port Denarau. Apart from a bit of wind and a very bad sunburn afterwards (always remember to reapply!), the day was absolutely perfect. The guides make a great effort to sit down with each guest to have a chat, their hospitality is amazing with fruit and drinks provided on board and their catamaran is really spacious yet cosy with bean bags to sit on and a boom net to lie around in. As this is only a small group, you get to also learn about where other guests come from and their experiences during their stay in Fiji.
