We pre booked the Behind The Scenes tour with a BBQ lunch which included your meal and a private guide and we also added on the zip line and water slide for a little extra. Our guide was so friendly and very informative about the park and it's animals. You will mainly see iguanas and birdlife with a few turtles and pythons. Although you can guide yourself around the park, the Behind The Scenes option gives you the opportunity to hold a young iguana and young boa constrictor and have your photo taken with them too.
You also get to check out the incubation lab, at the time we went they had no eggs incubated but usually it is where they keep the iguana eggs, and how the filtration system works behind the coral tanks. The filtration system is of the latest technology and it was really interesting to see how every part does it's job. The bird enclosures are walk in which allow you to go inside where the birds are and if you're lucky, they may even fly onto your head or shoulders! I love walk in enclosures because you get to really immerse yourself in their environment and it's great for photo opportunities.
TODAY'S ADVENTURE TOOK US TO KULA WILD ADVENTURE PARK. THE DRIVE TOOK ABOUT 40 MINUTES FROM OUR ACCOMODATION AT DOUBLETREE RESORT BY HILTON FIJI BUT THE SCENERY ALONG THE WAY MADE THE DRIVE WORTH IT AS WE PASSED MOUNTAINS, FORESTS, BEACHES AND THROUGH LITTLE TOWNS.
The zip line was amazing! You had to walk up quite a few stairs to get to the top which can be exhausting, especially when you have to carry your own harness on the way up, but it's all worth it to get the adrenaline rush on the way down!
There is also the waterslide however we decided not to take part as we couldn't be bothered changing back into our clothes, but it's 100 meters in length and is a 15 meter walk to the top of the slide and the slide goes through the trees and jungle, it does look like it would be really fun! There is also a small waterpark suitable for children and children at heart! Our lunch included in the Behind The Scenes tour was a nice selection of cold salads, meat and fruit, they made more than enough for mum and I so we gave some of the guests eating around the cafe some of the food so none went to waste.
Mum and I had a pretty good time here. There was a good variety of animals to look at, interactive encounters like handling the animals, walk in enclosures and hand feeding the turtles. The cafe on site has lunch options and there is a souvenir shop with some pretty cool things to buy. If you want to get the most out of the park I would highly recommend the Behind The Scenes tour with a BBQ lunch, allow yourself a few hours at the park if you choose to do this.
